Building Update for July 2, 2020
Although in-person worship remains on hold, we are beginning to reopen the building for office access and smaller groups. Take a look at our plans!
Faith Story – Lesley Farnham (Wednesday Morning Matins for July 1, 2020)
As we take time to observe social distancing, we at Woodlake Lutheran invite you into a time of Morning Prayer. The following practice may be done individually, or with one or two in your household leading the whole family in a time of prayer.
Begin with centering yourself in a quiet space. Take three slow breaths. After this, speak these words: Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, O God, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Praise to the blest and holy Trinity, one God, who gives us life, salvation, and resurrection.

Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Music Monday for June 29, 2020
Some people pray for rain to saturate drought-stricken land. Some pray for the rains to cease: watching crops (life) die as they are drowned. I certainly try to drink “the right” amount of water to keep my body hydrated each day. Yet, with the incessant availability of sugar-packed and “calorie-free” beverages that are just more… exciting… than plain water, I probably don’t actually drink enough pure water for what my body needs.
In our Baptism, simple water is used by which “the triune God delivers us from the forces of evil, puts our sinful self to death, gives us new birth, adopts us as children, and makes us members of the body of Christ, the church.” (Evangelical Lutheran Worship, p. 225) Indeed, it matters not the quantity of physical water because Jesus promises to us in John 4:14: that “those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.”
Praise to the One who calls and names us up from the waters into life!

Our Director of Worship and Music, Joshua Lindgren, presents the piano/organ duet “Meditation in the Chapel” by Ellen Jane Lorenz, recorded in our very own Woodlake Lutheran Church Chapel. Featured instruments are the Hunt/Engen pipe organ (rebuilt in 2011) and our chapel Yamaha upright piano.
